Mercurio Festival was born in 2019 from a clear need: to rethink the role of artists within festivals. In a landscape crowded with directors but lacking true direction, we chose to overturn the rules, imagining a participatory model in constant evolution. At Mercurio Festival, artists are not mere guests but active agents in the creative and curatorial process. Each year, those who took part in the previous edition are invited to form the Participatory Artistic Direction for the next one—passing the baton to build community, vision, and continuity.

 

A festival that doesn’t just “direct,” but lets itself be guided by a shared desire to “take direction,” exploring new artistic and human paths through a democratic, fluid, and interdisciplinary mechanism. Like mercury: liquid, shifting, free.
